Had a very good meeting with Robert Singer,Director-General and CEO of ORT
Worldwide. He left Czernowitz in 1974 and will contact Jerome to join up. He
will ask re the old ORT school etc..but I will let him ask himself. Irene
and Helen S. already contacted him! And I finally found out what ORT stands
for "Obshestvo Remeslennogo zemledelcheskogo Truda". No wonder they
shortened it!! It actally means "The Society for Trades and Agricultural
Labour" and was founded in St Petersburg in 1880. I showed him and Mr
Vladimir Dribinskiy,the Chief Program Officer (who is from StPetersburg) our
website and I think they were quite impressed....and Robert is sending the
Czernowitz Cookbook to his daughter! (Anybody blushing?) London is now
covered in snow and ice so am about to have a large Scotch to warm up!!!
