 A song is born.

Somewhere in the late 19- th century in the mess room of the Sadigora
Yeshive
30 hungry Yeshiva Bochers were awaiting dinner.
  Food was late and the stomachs were churning.
   Suddenly one Bocher started clapping his cup on the table :
   Clop -clop, Clop -clop.....
     Soon all others joined in in a clapping concerto to be heard in the
  kitchen where the food was being prepared.
      It didnt do much good.
      So somebody began a chant in rythm with the clapping:
       Daidl , Oy didl daidl , Oy Didl Daidl , Oy Didl Daidl Dam......
         Then came a tune , from the mountains , from the Hutsul lands
    where Gypsies had their camps , a wailing tune expressing sorrow and
   grief of people without hope , a tune as old as mankind.....
        It was a tune with no words only one strophe ,endlessly repeating
     the same four beats.
        And with the clapping of the cups , it had rythm , endlessly....
       Then ,at last, food was served.....the clapping subceded...
          Forgotten.
