Czernowitzers...

Thank you for your comments on the List of Czernowitz supporters of Poeli Zion Nominees for the 21th Zionist Conferance 1939, released by courtesy of our fellow member Oded Blaustein from Jerusalem. As stipulated in advance, our attempt to descipher the signatures leaded to just a partial result. However, step by step, assisted by your comments and as a kind of team work, we are getting now a more complete and accurate listing:

Oded mentioned: "I will write you the names written in Hebrew letters in Latin (English)..."

Cornel mentioned: "I suspect it should be Fany Aizenthal,not Alzenthal."

Harry mentioned: "How interesting. Irene sent me a book of Selmas poems in German which are heartrending to read."

Gabriele mentioned: "I firmly believe the signature to be the one of my mother's eldest brother Max, since Selma's father died much earlier, in 1926..."

Simon mentioned: "On page one of the list of Czernowitz supporters of Polei Zion nominees, the name Gusta Schkolnik was omitted."
