A good example for differentiating between Frege's sense and reference
or if you wish connotation and denotation. We all used the denotation/
reference topographic kind (only grammatically correct in German for obere
and untere Judengasse). The connotation/sense social status interpretation
of these words is of later times and (mostly Ehpes) , and is only marginally relevant
for the population on the Judengasse.

But... my grandparents sometimes lived at corner untere Judengasse/Springbrunnengasse and my mother
overcompensated her low geographical status up to the end of her life.

And... the first girl I really admired at age 13 (she was 11) lived on Uhrmachergasse.
