Arthur, I am so glad I and others have encouraged you to keep writing. It is
wonderful to read about your memories and experiences, and those of others
who have also begun to share their stories with us.
I want to know more! What was the woman's reaction when you pointed out your
name? Was she defensive, puzzled, what? Is it possible that her grandmother
did live there after your family left?
And do you remember what motivated you to etch your name? Just a schoolboy's
whim? Did you do it right before you left, understanding the circumstances?
