I do remember that my father Mendel Weisinger used to go to the Leipziger
Messe(Fur Trade Fair) very regular. I am not sure but the last time he went
would have been 1938. Things in Germany for the Jews there would have been
shaky. Our neighbours would inquire about the situation how it would affect us.
Most were of the opinion we should not worry these are localised. We always
lived peacefully with our Christian neighbour. nothing will happen. I wonder if
you remember the Fackelzug(Torchmarches)
I also remember there were oppenings to go to then Palestine and settle into new
budding Kibuzim. Very few takers. Who would want to leave a place like
Czernowitz. A civilised,educated, comfortable

society who in spite the "Vorbits Romanesti" continued its German cultural
activities.

Dear Mimi,

I find your comments very interesting : in my family we also
had the same questions !!!
When my mother came home once, and told her parents that
"now it's the right moment to leave Czernowitz", the answer
was : "are you crazy ? we did build our own house and you
want us to leave the house ???". They could not imagine what
was going to happen !!!!
Best regards.
Lydia.
