Bruce...
Thank you very much for your mail and I'm confident you don't mind that I'm sharing it with the group, as your questions are of general interest. As an example, please follow the following step-by-step procedure:
Please go back to the Transcriptions & Archives Section of "Der Tag - The Day", accessible from the homepage
http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.com/
or by direct link to
http://dertag.forenworld.com/index.php
and enter your key word for the search, i. e. "Ruff", into the search engine. You'll find one match on the 27.01.1933 and the key word "Ruff" will be red outlined on an excerpt of the respective article. Click on the headline, i. e. Nr. 261, Freitag, 27.01.1933, and you'll get all transcribed articles from the 27.01.1933 edition of "Der Tag - The Day", but please
NOTE: Klaus and Martina are transcribing day by day since the day of first appearance of "Der Tag - The Day", i. e. 13.03.1932/2010 up to now, i. e. 10.02.1933/2011 several - not all - articles per day, summarizing so far about 1,050 articles. These transcriptions represent the searchable data base for "Der Tag - The Day".
Now, Bruce, scroll down and look for the red outlined key word. The key word "Ruff" is embedded in an article on p. 4, titled "Die Wintermakkabiah in Zakopane". Use copy & paste to an online translator for generating a translation and you'll learn, that "Engineer Ruff" has been nominated - among others - as an active athlete and official from Czernowitz for the Winter Maccabiah Games in Zakopane.
At the bottom of the article, you'll find (in brackets) a index name, i. e.
330127w4
pointing out the location of the article, which I'm going to mail to you separately.
A new section, titled "Dead & Gone" is just now under construction and will diplay articles on deaths, funerals, memeorial ceremonies and obituaries. It will be operational soon, but please
NOTE: We are not publishing in advance, i. e. you'll find exclusively articles between 13.03.1932 and x-day minus 78 years = 10.02.1933 for today minus 78 years. So, if your great grandfather deceased later than 10.02.1933 you'll have to wait until the repective period of time and look then for an possible article.
For any further question please do not hesitate to contact me and I'll be glad to assist you.
