Hi Mimi, as far as I know, my father received a Popovici authorizations but
passed it to his brother (same name). We were deported in 11th November 41
(me being 11 weeks old). That means that our Popovici authorizations was
received before that date (the letter "T"). something does not fit.

Subject: Date of issue of Popovici authorizations

A short time ago, there was some discussion within the list as to when
Popovici authorizations were issued. I just found the Popovici
authorization, issued to my family and the date is November 27th 1941.
Not all authorizations were issued on that day, just the people who's names
stared with the letters "S" and "T".

As a side remark: My father is listed as "agricultor" and "licentiat Matem."
Meaning: farmer and having a MA degree in Mathematics.
The degree in Math. is correct, but the "farmer" is due to the fact that in
preparation for the Russians taking over Czernowitz in 1940, my father had
thought it would be safer to be a farmer than a capitalist "burjui" and had
had a document witnessed and signed to that effect.
Actually, under Russian rule, he was allowed to teach high-school
Mathematics, which he had not been allowed to do under Romanian rule
and even won a prize for his teaching.

Mimi
