My parents were raised in Czernowitz and immigrated to the US following WW II, where I was born.
I would like to travel to visit Czernowitz to see the places of my parents' youth and visit the cemetery where my mother's mother is buried (she died prior to WW II) this spring.
Much of my family died in Bershad, Transistria.
I would appreciate any advice on how to Czernowitz. I had considered going via Bucharest, but believe that traveling via Lvov may be much shorter. However, I need advice particularly on how to safely travel from Lvov, where to stay, and how to find a guide in Czernowitz. I would consider hiring a driver if the cost would not be excessive.
In addition, I am interested to know if any one has traveled to Bershad, since I would consider going there as well.
Please let me know if any one is aware of any groups which might be traveling to Czernowitz in the near future as well.
Thanks
