Merle & Jerome,
Dr. Felicia [Fella] Steigman Carmelly is my third cousin on the Rubinger side - both of her grandmothers were Rubingers [as was my paternal grandmother]. I am very proud that she compiled that history of Transnistria and also contributed the chapter about our family. I am honored that her photo is part of our member photo album.
I, on the other hand, haven't sent a photo as I am almost always the one taking the photos but I will amend that at once and send a photo in ASAP.
Many thanks,
Shellie Wiener

Dear Hardy,
All kidding aside, these are two people who have worked tirelessly since WWII to make the tragedy of Transnistria known to the world. Baruch is a scholar, writer, retired docent at the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Museum, still active in the Canadian Institute for Jewish Research CIJR), Dr. Carmelly has written a book, "Shattered - 50 Years of Silence - History and Voices of the Tragedy in Romania and Transnistria" (which won many prestigious awards) and is currently working on another very important
project.
Transnistria was only in very recent years added to the list of infamous
concentration camps and only recently acknowledged by the Romanian
government. It is due to the efforts of people like this that this has
happened.
They definitely do merit being known as honorary members. Baruch is 91 years old and doesn't use a computer so isn't on the Cz-list and Dr. Carmelly is completely wrapped up in her writing - 16 hours a day. They have both very kindly given me some material to eventually disseminate.
Merle
