It was indeed the Moishav Zekenim, the Siechenhaus. There was a shil
in the basement, which was called Moishav Zekenim. My family and
myself prayed there until April 1940, when we left for Palestine.
Nuchem Spinner, Ervin's father was the Gabbe, and Itzik Schoichet was
the outstanding Baal Tefile. At my time, the Jewish Hospital was in a
much bigger building at the Springbrunnenplatz, called the Ham. I have
heard that before my time the building served as the Jewish Hospital.
I visited Czernowitz in 2009 and made pictures of the building but
from the side, from the old Schilhoif, because the entire era was
surrounded by a fence and I was unable to take a photo from the front
as is now on the blog. My photos of it and of the Groisse Schil's
front entrance, from the Schilhoif is on the ehpes blog. Its recently
published picture is from the Synagogengasse , the Schilgass, but it
was the sidewall of the Schil.

The inmates of the "Siechenhaus" were deported on the last transport of 1942 and arrived to the stone quarry on the river Bug "Cariera de Piatra" where we already were, and after a short period of time were annihilated by the Romanian "Jandarms'.
