We are a pain in the back to new Czernowitz.
We bring back a period they would gladly forget.
And so they do.
They did not show brotherly support (understatement).
They live in our houses , synagogues , Temple.
The young do not know who we are.
( And so do we , at times.)
And when we remember we feel empty.
So go there ,see the streets , the houses.
Eat their food , enjoy the sights, remember.
Look around - you don't belong .
You are a long- forgotten far- away relative who suddenly appears
for an unannounced visit.
They put up a smile but don't know what to do with you.
" Sorry no German , a little English , please here is menu , OK ?"
