Dear friends,

Each one has at least one meaningful day per year. For me it's April 20 every year, the day of death of my mother, Ioana Hauster (1994), the birthday of Adolf Hitler (1889), but also the presumptive death-day of Paul Celan (1970), perhaps the most famous Czernowitzer. Therefore the very first solo exhibition of the Czernowitz Art Gallery, headlined "SCHWARZE MILCH - BLACK MILK..." is dedicated to Paul Celan and to the artistic realization for his most popular poem "Todesfuge - Deathfugue". This multimedia exhibition is now open at:

http://czernowitzart.blogspot.com/

What are you going to spot there? You'll discover the paintings of three prominent contemporary artists, Anselm Kiefer, László Lakner and Hans Werner Berretz. But modern, abstract art is not everybody's taste, so what else will you find there?

First of all you'll find the complete text of the "Deathfugue" in TEN (!) different languages - Just click on the flag buttons! - including additional links. Then you are invited to visit the multimedia section of the exhibition, i. e.:

Interpretations: http://czernowitzart.blogspot.com/2011/04/deathfugue-interpretations.html
Video Adaptations: http://czernowitzart.blogspot.com/2011/04/deathfugue-video-adaptations.html
Paul Celan on Stage: http://czernowitzart.blogspot.com/2011/04/paul-celan-on-stage.html

Including the footage "Todesfuge", recited by Paul Celan himself, you will find in total 14 video clips. Please join us at the exhibition, enjoy the artworks and let us know your impression. But please keep in mind, that I'm starting my (motorbike) journey to Galicia and Bukovina just today, so it may take me some time to respond.

WARMEST WISHES & HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

P.S. The permanent Czernowitz Art Gallery is still available at: http://czernowitzgallery.blogspot.com/
