Hi everybody,

My name is Rob Gartenberg and I'm the great-grandson of Josef
Ohrenstein, who founded and directed the Jewish hospital in
Czernowitz. My mother is the daughter of one of Josef's
daughters, Pauline Ohrenstein, and Max Kraemer, a lawyer and
businessman who was a member of the B'nai Brith lodge in
Czernowitz. So my mother (who lives in London) and her elder brother
(who lives in Tel Aviv) were both born in Czernowitz.

Over the past year I've been researching my family tree, using Geni.com
where I have
left many profiles of older relatives open to the public in the hope that
others might contact me
with more information.

The OHRENSTEIN and KRAEMER families lived in Czernowitz and the surrounding
area, though the earliest Ohrensteins in my tree (around 1815) came from
Galicia, Poland.
I know relatively little about the early origins of the Kraemer family.

I am also interested in the following other families whose name
 appears in my family tree:

GREIF (Josef Ohrenstein's wife was Rosa Greif)
LANDAU (Josef's other daughter, Ida, married Jakob Landau, also
a doctor and member of the B'nait Brith lodge) and I'm still in
touch with Jakob's son, who lives in Atlanta, GA.
ALLERHAND (Josef's brother Wilhelm married a Frederike Allerhand)
RETTER (the name appears twice in my family tree, linked to Ohrensteins)
RAUCHWERGER (the name appears 3 times in my family tree)

Should any of what I write above ring any bells or sound familiar or
interesting, please feel
free to contact me. My e-mail address is rob.gartenberg_at_linguanet.be

Best regards,

rob
