This is the third year in which ASF has brought volunteers to
Czernowitz/Chernivtsi, to clear the Jewish cemetery of weedy vegetation.
I am sure that the members of this list, greatly appreciate the work of the
volunteers and their readiness to sacrifice time, energy and money in order
to help us preserve this cemetery, the last resting place of our ancestors.
I can readily understand the temptation, which many of us may feel, to ask
the volunteers, to look for individual graves or tombstones, or to even
clear the immediate area around a particular grave.
PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT DO SO. Not directly and not by hinting at it.
It is neither proper, nor decent, to ask the volunteers to act as personal
hired help.
There is a plan by which the cemetery is cleared of weedy vegetation,
in an orderly fashion, from one end to another, without any regard to who's
ancestors are interred in which part of the cemetery.
