Theo...

First of all I'm encouraging you to resend your interesting mail once again, using plain text, in order to make it easily accessible to the entire group.

Then I think you would like to know, that your grandfather Siegfried Hessing was the editor of a famous Festschrift at the instance of Benedict Spinoza's 300 anniversary, published by Carl Winter in Heidelberg in February 1933. Among the coauthors you'll find extremly prominent personalities, such as Albert Einstein, Siegmund Freud, Martin Buber, Simon Dubnow, Romain Rolland, Arnold Zweig, etc. Czernowitz daily newspaper, edited at

http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.com/

reported on that editorial event by an article, dated 05.02.1933. Please go to the Transcriptions & Archives section

http://dertag.forenworld.com/index.php

entering "Hessing" in the search engine and you'll find another two articles, dated 14.04.1932 and 23.08.1932. I'm currently on a research journey in Galicia and Bukovina, but upon my return to the Netherlands end of May, I'll be pleased to send copies of the respective articles to you.

BTW, the Festschrift "Spinoza. Dreihundert Jahre Ewigkeit" is still available in different antiquarian bookshops today. I do hope these data will be helpful to you.

Warmest wishes!
