Dear Edgar,
I have been following, with great pleasure and, of course, sadness,
your trip through Galicia. I hope your trip to Czernowitz is as rich
and meaningful.
Two days ago I received an article from Die Welt that spoke of a
reading of Selma Meerbaum's poetry in Czernowitz. It was an event
sponsored by the German-Ukrainian Institute (Gedankedach) and was
held, I believe, in the Jewish House. It is described as an extremely
moving experience, and, as you might imagine, deeply touched me, my
sister Helene, and our mother, Hilda. If, by any chance, you find out
more -- were the poems translated into Ukrainian? How many people were
there? etc, -- could you pass that information on?
Thank you so very much.
Happy travels,
Irene
