Dear Irene,
I'm happy, that you are following my motorcycle trip through Galicia and Bukovina. Aside from the fact, that I had the pleasant opportunity to meet our fellow members Cornel Fleming, Harry Jarvis, Irene Fishler and Ioana Rostos, I do believe, the new findings from Czernowitz will be quite interesting for the entire group.
Concerning Selma Meerbaum's poetry in Czernowitz, I think you (and others) would like to know, that the event covered by "Die Welt", took place in the Jewish House of Czernowitz on 31st of March. More than 100 listeners participated and were delighted by the performance of the German and international movie and TV star Iris Berben. Please read more at
http://www.muzejew.nxt.ru/New-Iris-En.html
Peter Rychlo, who translated Selma's poems into Ukrainian, recited some of them in Ukrainian language. They are published in Peter Rychlo's bilingual (GE/UKR) book "Die verlorene Harfe" (The Lost Harp). I got a copy for you and I'm pleased to forward it to you, as soon as you'll communicate your snail mail address to me.
I do hope you'll enjoy this additional information. Warmest wishes, still from Czernowitz!

> I have been following, with great pleasure and, of course, sadness, your trip through Galicia. I hope your trip to Czernowitz is as rich and meaningful.
> Two days ago I received an article from Die Welt that spoke of a reading of Selma Meerbaum's poetry in Czernowitz. It was an event sponsored by the German-Ukrainian Institute (Gedankedach) and was held, I believe, in the Jewish House. It is described as an extremely moving experience, and, as you might imagine, deeply touched me, my sister Helene, and our mother, Hilda. If, by any chance, you find out more -- were the poems translated into Ukrainian? How many people were there? etc, -- could you pass that information on?
> Thank you so very much.
> Happy travels,
