Dear Mark Wiznitzer,
Your story is very moving and very true. It might be of interest to you
that in one of the much acclaimed movies made by Volker Koepp
"Herr Zwilling und Frau Zuckermann", there is an episode filmed in
Vashkautz in 1997 with the last two Jewish inhabitants .
  Mrs. Liebermann (now deceased) and her friend Mania. Mrs. Lieberman
talks about Vashkautz and Banila, as two places with a flourishing
and large Jewish population, and about the massacres which took place
there in 1941.
Asked about the murderers, she witnessed how Ukrainian neighbors
butchered her mother alongside with the whole Jewish population.
It is a heartbreaking scene.
