[Cz-L] Re: Kenein Ahore, the bad eye and the Ptu Ptu Ptu spitting...

I remember in the late eigthies in Paris: one day, my mother and I were waiting for my two boys (say 7 and 8 1/2 year old) at the door of their school; we also had with us our little "princess", Sarah the last born, in a "landeau" (don't know the word in English) Children came out slowly from school when, suddenly, I felt that my mother turned the landeau round and almost runned away with it, grumbling something like "Keinene Ahore!". I stopped her and she explained that too many people looked at our Sarah and praised how beautiful she is, etc. so she had to run away with Sarah and do her best to avoid the bad eye...
Concerning the 3 times saying Ptu Ptu Ptu - as if one spitted 3 times - this is apparently of common use in Ukraine (and probably elsewhere): my Ukrainian friend does it from time to time; Although her father is Jewish, it is not from him that she got this habit, but from her mother who is not Jewish...
