Hedy you are right.
I went to the Meisler kindergarten 2 years, and then to primary school from
1936 to 1940. Wonderful years. I spoke, read and wrote good German thanks to
a good teacher, and I also could carry on a basic conversation in French at
the age of 10 - also thanks to a marvelous teacher, whose name I regretfully
don't remember.

Maybe this was also due to my affinity for languages, while I never -
never - managed the small multiplication table and was hated deeply by most
math teachers I had throughout the years.
