Although Jossy calls us revered ladies he mentions "no man" in this
discussion. Hardy I think you should protest loud and clear.
Hedwig, thanks for calling me "tzutzik" makes me feel great!!! I know that
all Tzutziks are 70 now but at my age??? Thanks.
I learned, read (past and present), write German. In the Meisler school we
learned it, at home we spoke and read plays, the elders reading the
soliloquies but I always had a part saying Ya oder Nein mein Herr. Always
very important parts!! was only 12 when my fam. left, but went on reading
German.
Even during the first Russian occupation I went to Moldawska scoala and
there we had a German literature teacher who during the summer German
occupation still taught me privately before the ghetto. Anyway I know
German.
As for Mauscheln - this according to my German husband - is a most
derogatory expression it comes from Moische; the Jews speaking a mixture so
they can't be understood -sly; cheat; thieves speak that language - our
German was special because of it's intonation and THE grammar ?!.
