Apropos the royal visit to Czernowitz, I believe they visited Kisinev at the
same time.
Here is an excerpt from chapter 1 of my book, RUTH'S JOURNEY, about that royal
visit, while we lived for a short time in Kishinev.
" Thanks to my dear father's efforts, I was able to read fairy tales that
embellished my own pixie world and created in my imagination visions of princes,
princesses, and kingdoms.
Then one day I got to see real royalty when the Romanian King Carol II and
Prince Michael, his son and heir, made a visit to Kishinev. Perched on my
father's shoulders, I watched the royal carriage making its way down the main
street which was bursting with people waving Romanian flags and cheering the
military bands, the marching soldiers, and the cavalry. Smiling and waving, the
king and prince alternated their greetings to the left and to the right.
I waved back fervently and could have sworn that they returned my greeting.
This experience fed my childish imagination. In some of my dreams, I even found
myself to be a member of the royal family."

Subject: [Cz-L] 24. - 25.05.1933: Carol II of Romania in Czernowitz
Czernowitzers...
On 24. - 25.05.1933 King Carol II of Romania visited Czernowitz and all local
authorities and organizations, including the Jewish Community, are enthusiastic
on this event. Czernowitz newspaper "Der Tag - The Day", 25.05.1933 edition,
http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.com/2011/05/blog-post_25.html
released for the very first time a photo series, displaying Czernowitz
personalities (administration, politics, economy, industry, trade, industrial
arts, cultus, labor, finances), which I published at
http://gr-czernowitz.livejournal.com/2828901.html
http://gr-czernowitz.livejournal.com/2829103.html
http://gr-czernowitz.livejournal.com/2829418.html
On 24.05.1933 the Jewish Community, represented by Dr. Abraham Jacob Mark and
Dr. Karl Gutherz, published an expression of loyality, mentioning that the Jews
of Czernowitz are prepared to sacrifice "good and blood" for throne and Romanian
homeland. I'm afraid, that the Romanian authorities took this statement much too
literally.
