Czernowitzers...
On 24. - 25.05.1933 King Carol II of Romania visited Czernowitz and all local authorities and organizations, including the Jewish Community, are enthusiastic on this event. Czernowitz newspaper "Der Tag - The Day", 25.05.1933 edition,

released for the very first time a photo series, displaying Czernowitz personalities (administration, politics, economy, industry, trade, industrial arts, cultus, labor, finances), which I published at

On 24.05.1933 the Jewish Community, represented by Dr. Abraham Jacob Mark and Dr. Karl Gutherz, published an expression of loyality, mentioning that the Jews of Czernowitz are prepared to sacrifice "good and blood" for throne and Romanian homeland. I'm afraid, that the Romanian authorities took this statement much too literally.
