Anny...this time I very much disagree with you.Firstly, there is no evidence
that it is a temporary position. 2ndly,none of the photos we have seen show
how many people attended,we are just seeing the first rows. It was obviously
also raining!! Thirdly...it was a local initiative that needs praise and
support and certainly no interference from any of us. Moreover a standing
stone is far easier to knock down than one attached to a rock as this seems
to be. I may be totally wrong but I am getting the impression that there is
a sort of feeling appearing "how come the local Jews did this and not us"
and I very much hope this is not so! And at this point I am bowing out of
this discussion...enough is enough!! Cornel

Subject: Re: [Cz-L] Memorial to the Czernowitz Ghetto
We got a picture of the "stone" and the few Jewish children from Heder or
Jewish school and Hardy mentioned the absence of parents. I suppose we have
to be thankful that those very very few attended the inaugural but someone
did mention that there were Jews in Cz . Its position is certainly bound to
be muddied by the famous "Blotte", (Capri hat eine Blaue Grotte, Czernowitz
eine graue Blotte) after rain and snow - Schkuzim and horses might use it as
well. I feel the only thing, if Mimi our fighting spirit, courageously, is
willing to undertake another task. It would certainly be safer standing
it up.
To my greatest regret, I am not inclined to give people the benefit of the
doubt and someone might vandalise it wherever we put it up except,
maybe, on the cemetery which people seem to respect.
As Hardy wrote I always use a lot of words to answer, here is the proof. I
feel I have to add my opinion.
