Dear Dana,
Thank You for your helpful suggestions. We will be happy to follow up on
some of your suggestions for further events or exhibitions in Bucharest. Th=
e
carturesti bookshop for instance is indeed a very beautiful building and a
great source for books while staying in Romania. (They also opened recently
a small bookstore inside the new Iulius Mall in Suceava).
I personally had good and very welcoming experiences with the Federation of
Jewish Communities in Romania and the Jewish Community of Bucharest. Just
last September I addressed their Yiddish Conference on our work and researc=
h
(http://www.festival-idis.ro/EN/node/7). The conference was big, very well
organized, interesting and its Music program got lots of attention from
young Romanian people and the media.
The Idea of our current exhibition though, is to showcase Shani's artwork
and Information on Romania's Jewish heritage to the wider public. Our
Romanian exhibition here is indeed intended for public spaces. It was shown
before at the University of Vienna and the photographs can also last an
impression on people who just rush by. Not everybody will stop and read the
texts, but some people do. The Idea is to reach people who would not go to =
a
museum, a Jewish venue or an explicit Holocaust Memorial.
All the best and Thank You,
Emil
PS: We will be happy to show our work also at Museums, Synagogues or
Cultural Institutes in the future and will welcome any ideas and
suggestions. We are currently looking for more project partners in Israel,
the US and Canada where our exhibit is scheduled to be shown in 2012. I wil=
l
be happy to send to any of you more Information on our work by email.
