My family were among them - they left Czernowitz in 1938. My mother,
grandmother, uncle, great-uncle and great-aunt. That accounts for 5 of the
16,500.

In 1930 the total population of Czernowitz was 112,400.
 In 1941 it was 78,826 ,a drop of 33,000.
  The Germans who left were about 16,500.
   There are 16.500 people missing.
    Until we find those nobody leaves the room.
