Hello Bruce and other Czernowitzers,
My grandfather and his family were from Czernowitz. I have been on this
listserv for several months and this is the first time I am writing
anything.
First of all, thank you Bruce and everyone else who have been posting
information about Czernowitz. I have been collecting information for my
trip to Czernowitz next month.
I have been in contact with a few of you in the past and met Mimi a few
weeks ago at her home. She is a delightful woman. A special thank you to
Mimi and to Milton.
My grandfather *Bernhard Rubel* (*Schaje Bendet Rubel*) was married once
before marrying my grandmother. He had a son from his first wife. His
first wife's name was *Feige Ruchel Singer*, daughter of Leiser Singer (I
think).
His son, my uncle, was *Moriz Rubel*, born *April 30, 1897*. Just found his
birth record through LDS records. My cousin told me that *he was an
optometrist*. He was alive in 1971
when I was going to look him up. I never made it to Romania. He was living
there at that time.
Does anyone know of *Moriz Rubel, the optometrist*? I would appreciate any
information I can get.
