I suspect that he was asked because they are not supposed to give out
information except to close family and then they want evidence...which is
why I was not able to get info for a list member when I was there.However,if
one writes to the correct archive they seem to be quite helpful in writing

Thank you to all who worked on finding a translation for FUNCIONAR. If the=
 brewery was outside Czernowitz, would I be better off writing to the Lvov =
archives? A friend's father had personal contacts there and went in person =
to get info on his ancestors. He was asked if he was Jewish and then was no=
t given any answers. Has anyone else had this problem? =20
