Czernowitzers...

It's time again to have a closer look at the Czernowitzer newspaper "Der Tag"! From "tomorrow's" weekend edition, i. e. 05.11.1933/2011, online available at

http://czernowitzdaily.blogspot.com/

we learn, that a ropedancer was on tour in Czernowitz (p. 2) and as it is Czernowitz, it's not an ordinary ropedancer, it's a professor (!), Prof. Artur Strohschneider. Hard times for travelling artists! At the same time a fakir from India (!) was performing as well in Czernowitz (p. 2) and instantly he has got a local Czernowitzer competitor from the Landhausgasse. His tongue was sharper, the nail longer and the stunt more hazardous!

Freaks in real live and freaks at the ROXY Cinema (p. 5 and Media Player in the blog).

But from the same edition we learn, that real world-class artists are preannouncing their appearance in Czernowitz, i. e. the drama group of Max Reinhardt, directed by "our" Bukoviner Dr. Otto Ludwig Preminger from Wiznitz (p. 5.)! Please check for Prof. Artur Strohschneider, the horror film Freaks from the year 1932, Max Reinhardt and Dr. Otto Ludwig Preminger our Ehpes.com Blog at:

What else do we learn from this weekend edition of "Der Tag"?

Was It Murder? In 1933, Allene Lamson was bludgeoned to death in her [Stanford] campus home. Or did she slip and fall in her bathroom? Her husband's trial -- and his journey from Faculty Row to death row -- gripped the [US] nation (p. 4):

The firm town council decision of cobbling Russischegasse was cancelled without any justification (p. 7). Sorry for that, Berti and Hardy!

Scandals & more within the Czernowitz Building Authority, headlined by "Statt Verschönerung - Verdorfung!" (p. 7).

and, and, and...

Enjoy the reading, perhaps more entertaining than today's news!
