Dear Alfred,

Thank you for sharing these beautiful thoughts with all of us. I, who also =
experienced that indignity, will share your letter with all my American fri=
ends as well as with audiences to whom I speak of my experiences.

Gratefully,

Frieda Tabak

Dear Alfred,

I am deeply touched by your letter to your son, about the yellow star,
we were forced to wear. Thank you for sharing this letter with us.

Because I read your letter, I would like to write to this group of
Czernowitzers, what I have never written or told to anyone before.

I was only 4 years old when we were forced to start wearing this mark of ou=
r
identity. I do not remember the first time it was pinned on my coat.
But I remember very clearly the exact shade of yellow of the fabric.
Despite the many years which have passed since then, I have not been able
to get over the deep shame and hurt, which the wearing of this badge arouse=
d
in me. To this day and despite knowing that we suffered far worse abuse,
this is the one indignity, to still make me burst into floods of tears.

Mimi
