Dear Fredi, (my dear former classmate at the Czernowitzer Ghetto secondary
school).

I am still very excited about your personal Yellow Star letter and your
associated action at the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. For me, it is really
emotional. By writing your personal letter to your son you did the right
thing and you did it properly. It was an excellent idea to leave such an
important message to your family's future generations and fellow Jews..

Interestingly, when we met in Ramat Gan a couple of years ago you did not
tell me anything about this episode in your life. I imagine it was because
both of us were quite excited, we had to tell each other so many things,
after so many years of lack of contact.

I would be very glad to meet you again in Israel and I look forward to
seeing this materialize.
Meanwhile, Shana Tova and "ad meah veesrim" to you, your wife and the rest
of the family.

Fondly,
Abraham Kogan

Dear Cz-L friends,
Thank you for your notes and warm comments about my Yellow Star letter. Now
it was my turn to be moved and appreciative.
I wish you all a Shanah Tovah.

Fred Schneider's letter to his son George

The recent correspondence on Cz-L about the Yellow Star prompts me to share
with you (Cz-L, Ehpes) a very personal letter I wrote to my son sixteen
years ago. I think it may be of interest to Czernowitzers and their
descendents to glean into the thoughts and emotions of a teenager in
Czernowiz at the time of its worst tragedy and to learn what this symbol
came to represent during the subsequent seven decades of his life.

With best wishes,

Alfred (Fred) Schneider
