Yes,Gaby, our Lia Koenig is very much a Czernowitzer !
1. For a short time she was a student at the Meislerschule ( in Lucca's
or Anitta's class). In 1957 her teacher Flora Singer went behind the stage
of the Bucharest Jewish Theater with flowers and congratulated Lia for her
outstanding achievement in the role of Anne Frank. Lia remembered her and
the Meislerschule.

2. Lia Koenig gave us an unforgettable performance in 2007 at a mostly
Bukowinaer Event at the Eretz Israel Museum in Ramat Aviv. The Event was
hold in honour of Zwi Yawetz at the launching of his book "My Czernowitz
"-the Hebrew version. Lia played a monologue of a fine Czernowitzer Lady
visiting her Doctor. She spoke the purest Czernowitzer Yiddish-Deutsch.
The text was written by her gifted late husband Zwi Stolper.
The audience, in big numbers, reacted with lots of laughter to the many
jokes and allusions.

3. I too remember Dina Koenig, in the fifties in Bucharest as a very
impressing stage persona: big , with a strong, deep voice. At this time she
was a star of the theater.

Yes, Steve, please send me the Biography of Dina Koenig. I wish to read it.
Thanks,
Regards
Irene

Lya is a "honorary Czernowitzer", she lived some years in Czernowitz but was
not born there, her husband Hershale was a native.
However, everybody considers her a Czernowitzer since she has spent most of
her life with Czernowitzers who adore her and have adopted her as "one of
ours". She is one of the most loved actresses in Israel and anybody who has
ever wittnessed her on stage will know what I am talking about.
As to her mother's biography, please send it to me, but if it is in Hebrew
letters I cannot help. However, I'd like to see it and maybe send it to her
anyway, she can read it in all languages.
Gabriele
