Wonderful to see such celebrations in Czernowitz. And that so many
people joined in. Also, Rabbi Kofmansky, who has aged considerably since
I last saw him, writing the last letter in the Torah, was very moving.
And the new, beautifully restored building of the schil, right next door
to my
paternal grand-parents house, the Meerbaums. I hope that these steps,
and those made by us and our friends in the last years, will
strengthen the city's acknowledgement of its Jewish past and make them
better aware of their responsibilty for the future.
If Charles' information is correct, things are moving in the right
direction.
For the daring : happy landing in Czernowitz.
L'SHANA TOVA to all our friends.
Gabriele
