Indeed, very sad news. He was a classmate of my younger brother during the
1940-1941 period. I even had a chance to talk to him on phone.

I was informed today, that Hardy Mayer, one of my favorite Czernowitzers
passed away recently. Hardy was not a member of our list, but he read our
Email messages archived on Ehpes and maintained an emotional attachment
to our Czernowitz heritage.

Possibly some of you knew him from Czernowitz or from Bucharest.
He was an eminent mathematical physicist, a fluent Yiddish speaker and
He embodied all the best qualities to which Czernowitzers aspired.
He was born in 1929 in Czernowitz as Meinhard E. Mayer.
