My condolensces on the passing of Hardy (Prof. Meinhard) Mayer.
I attended the 2008 IAYC (International Association of Yiddish Clubs)
Conference, whose theme was the Czernowitz Conference. Hardy gave a talk on
Yiddish and German poets from Czernowitz.
I recorded the sound to the lecture and have his slide show on my computer.
My plan had been to transcribe the lecture, include his slide show with
audio, and present it as I did for Dr. Scherzer who spoke on growing up in
Czernowitz (www.museumoffamilyhistory.com/iayc2008-scherzer.htm). But you
know how time goes -- I got busy with other aspects of my website, and life,
and it hasn't yet made it to my site. Hopefully I will find the time to
transcribe it and get it online sometime. We've also e-mailed back and forth
after the conference for a time.
I also have other lectures from the conference that I want to put online,
e.g. that of Prof. Iosif Vaysman et al.
Again, my condolensces.
Regards,
Steven Lasky
