When Popovici returned from Bucharest with the 20,000 exemptions from
deportation the reason was :
"Strictly required personnel for the Axis war effort would be exempted from
deportation."
20,000 ? And this was decided in Bucharest.
Where do take 20.000 specialists ?
They were maybe a few employed in the industry and municipial
maintenance services but 20,000 ?
The number came from Bucharest.
It was not a war effort number - it was a life-saving number...
