Berti...

Thank you so much for your mail. I'm subscribing word by word to your statement and therefore I entitled this thread "... - A Joint Venture"! There is no contradiction whatsoever between

- Dr. Traian Popovici's life-saving role in favor of the Jews from Czernowitz, justified being awarded by the honorary title "Righteous among the Nations" by Yad Vashem, and

- Dr. Dr. Fritz Gebhart Schellhorn's intervention in favor of the Jews from Czernowitz, during his mission as German Consul, later Consul General in Czernowitz,

and - at the same time - it's obvious that

- Dr. Traian Popovici could not acknowledge Schellhorn's influence in post-WW2-Soviet-dominated Romania, and

- Dr. Dr. Fritz Gebhart Schellhorn could not point out his interventions in favor of Jews in current-WW2-Nazi-dominated Romnaia.

And, BTW Andy, answering to your question "Is this an important issue?", I simply would say "Yes!", as I would like to know, who participated in the rescue operation of the Czernowitz Jews, including my grandparents. And no, Andy, you are definitely wrong by mentioning "Nothing can be verified or proved at this point." That would fade out the actual historiography, established by the historians mentioned in my initial posting, who are beyond any suspicion in minimizing or reinterpreting the Holocaust whatsoever, quite the contrary, they contributed by their publications to provide evidence on the Romanian Holocaust!

But however, dear Berti, please allow me, to close with your exclamation: Vivat Dr. Traian Popovici!
