Sorry to have taken so long to respond, Edgar.  I haven’t had a chance to look at the mail.  Don’t get offended. Get a sense of humor instead. You’ve been an excellent contributor with material of interest to the group but this time, I fear, you’ve latched on to a dud and it seems your ego won’t let you drop it.
Call me a racist. I won’t be offended. My mission in life is to offend  politically correct egotists. You are supposed to be a member of a five thousand year old tribe which has survived mainly because of a DNA that contains a sense of humor. It is our genetic cousins, the Muslims who, constantly get offended. Don’t emulate them. I suspect, however, that you’re not really offended by my Romanian DNA remarks, rather by the fact that I poo-pooh the Schellhorn story.
If you have ambition to become a journalist or media baron, learn to verify stories with reliable sources, particularly if the stories sound doubtful to begin with.  Yad Vashem would be the most reliable source in a case such as this.  They have been searching and verifying the righteous since the 1950s.
Czernowitzers on the whole are very polite people.  I am an exception.  I go out of my way to be impolite. I come from a long line of iconoclasts and the self-ordained Graff Pototskys of the world are my targets.   I really don’t have the time for this nonsense but it has become an irritant and to put the whole matter to bed I contacted Yad Vashem with whom I have a relationship. If I turn out to be wrong, don’t expect an apology from me, young man, because you rub me the wrong way.
Nevertheless, I wish you a healthy and prosperous 2012.
