We always had Schwaben as maids. It was interesting for me that the maid we
had, Genia, when I went to first class elementary "Meisler Schule", she
learned reading with me and did my homework with me, thus learned to read
and became an avid reader.
When she left we had another one,Rosa, cook and maid. She was "Gebildet".
She could read. When they came to say good bye on different days, Genia
said:I was a maid here and I'll be lucky to have as good a life as I had
with you, in Germany.
Rosa said: The Fuehrer promised that we'll have a furnished flat with pots
from the largest to the smallest, cutlery and crockery for six people and
all this is waiting for our arrival!!!"
That was repatriation 1940 of Schwaben and Zippzer ins Heimatland!!
