[Cz-L] I AM A CZERNOWITZER

Dear Czernowitzers:
   I am a new member to your Cz list and have been reading all this
wonderful information which has led me to write to you.
   I was born in Cz in 1938. My father was Wilhelm (Willy) Hulles and
my mother was Anna (Fell). I was there between 1938 and 1945. I
lived under the Romanians, the Russians, the Nazis and again the
Russians. In 1936 we lived at Siebenbuerger Strasse 1 or Stefan cel
Mare 1.. My Uncle was Dr. Leopold Hulles and his family lived at
Regina Maria 20. We were fortunate enough to get one of the "waivers"
and were exempted from being sent to Transnistria. Many of my family
members, my grandparents Adolf & Regina Fell, were among the
unfortunate. They lived at Mircea Voda 2. We left in 1945 under
false papers and traveled through Europe, ending up in Rothchild
Hsopital and then to the Bamberg DP Camp. After 3 years in Bamberg,
we were able to come to America (Portland, Oregon) under the
sponsorship of my Aunt & Uncle, Dr. Norbert Fell and Evelyn Firestone
They had left Vienna right before the war.
  Thanks to the Internet, tapes my parents made of their life, and the
outstanding book "Ghosts of Home" by Marianne Hirsch and Leo Spitzer,
I have been able to piece together my life. There are many holes, but
enough so that I can write my memoir exclusively for my children,
grandchildren and friends. I have spoken at my grandchildren's
classes, their Bar/Bat Mitzvah classes, my friends' Havorahs of my
life as a child growing up in Europe during World War 2.
  If there is anyone who knew my family, I would appreciate any
information you may have.
