Hi all! If you read the" History of the Jews in the Bukowina" it tells that
Dorna Watra had a spa....in German called Bad Dorna, and that is what the
postcard has on it. Cornel

[Like] many members, I don't write because I don't have something to say but
for this message I can contribute.

I have no immediate family in Czernowitz or Radutz but there are Rubingers
buried in the Czernowitz Jewish Cemetery so there once were some cousins
whose families must have lived in town. My family came from Wiznitz,
Putila, Storozhinets, maybe Iasy but for sure many were born/lived/died in
Dorna. Other family names include Hochstadt, Weigel, Fessler.

My great-grandmother's brother, Gerson Hochstadt, was married twice. While
he and his younger two children were away from home, his first wife, Chana
D'vora Grill, and eldest son were killed by [robbers/Cossacks/fill in the
blank.] He remarried, to Sophie Grill [maybe the sister of his first wife,]
and they had nine children.

Everyone said that these nine were born in Dorna. Only later, I learned
that they were born in Dorna Candreni and not Dorna Vatra. Perhaps the
photo is of the other Dorna? As I have never been to either Dorna, this
might not be correct but I thought I would mention it.

I can see if my cousin, Felicia [Fella] Steigman Carmelly, recognizes the
image since she was born in Dorna Vatra in 1931. She lived in Dorna until
the forced march to Transnistria. I don't remember where the family lived
on their return. She may be a member of the group but I am not sure.

Best,
Shellie Wiener

I've never been there but on the card it says Dorna.
I don't know much about trees either.
