Re: [Cz-L] King Carol

Dear David,

I'm not aware of a visit of King Carol II to Czernowitz prior to 1933 and reviewing the coverage in "Der Tag" from May 1933, I didn't discover any allusion to a former visit. Due to his illegitimate romance with Elena "Magda" Lupescu - outside of his social class, divorced and after all half JEWISH - Carol lived in exile in Paris and returned in June 1930 back to Romania, becoming on 08.06.1930 King Carol II of Romania.

A visit to Czernowitz between June 1930 and May 1933 could definitely have happen, but I don't know about, perhaps somebody else from our group knows about.
