Dear Hedwig and all that suggested that I am related to Bernard Reder,
I am familiar with Bernard Reder's work as a sculptor. I had learned
about him many years ago.
I suspect that he is a relative of my grandfather (I can not determine
the closeness). He was somewhat younger, probably about 10 years younger
than my
grandfather. Unfortunately, Bernard Reder died in 1963 and I understand
that he had no children. So, somewhat difficult to pursue this connection.
By the same token, I am probably related to Rudolf Reder, the survivor of
Belzec. Rudolf was from Lemberg ( Lvov) and I am sure that in the
region around
Lemberg and Czernowitz many ( probably hundreds) of Reders lived. I know
this because my father told me, so I am sure.
However, as I mentioned in my original note, I am not looking for a family
tree nor a genealogy research. Perhaps I will start down this path
when my
retirement time comes, which is not too far away.
My single purpose is very simple: I want to know ( I " must " know ) what
happened to the immediate Reder family ( grandfather, grand mother, 4
aunts and one uncle).
That simple. Until I resolve this quest, the other information, as nice
and revealing as it may be, does not help me too much.
Any piece of information that might help me to find out when they died,
where, how and so on would be extremely valuable for me.
But, as I said, Moses Reder was a poor man. He built travel trunks.
So, sounds to me that he and his family ( *my family *!) just " faded
away ".... as
an American general said, talking about a completely different
environment.
Regardless, I do thank the many emails that I received in such a short
time.
Thank you.
