David....Schule is German for school. In colloquial Yiddish a synagogue was
called a "shil"..as in the recently reopened Kornshil. Regards,Cornel

At last I have recognised a name on one of your lists! Jakob Peritz was my
great great uncle.

But shouldn't "Alte Chorschule" be better translated as "Old Choral
Synagogue"?
