I just excerpted the following obit from today's "The News
and Observer" newspaper in Eastern North Carolina.
Unfortunately, I never met Wlll Grossman or his
parents, but there was one name that caught my
attention: Czernowitz..

** Durham, North Carolina

> Will Grossman, age 67, died on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at
Meadowlands Hospice in Hillsborough, NC, after a valiant
17-month battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma. His family
wishes to thank Dr. Louis Diehl, his medical team, and the
nursing angels of 9100 and the Meadowlands, for their
treatment and compassionate care.

> Will was born in Czernovitz, Ukraine in 1945, the son
of Holocaust survivors the late Julius and Anna Grossman.
In 1958, he emigrated from Israel to Brooklyn, where he
learned English around the baseball diamond and discovered
a love of the arts, particularly photography. He received a BFA
from Brooklyn College and an M.Ed. from North Carolina State
University.

> During his professional career, he was the owner of Northgate
Camera Center and director of operations of the Jewish Heritage
Foundation of North Carolina, where he was active in promoting
Jewish art at the Rosenzweig Gallery at Judea Reform Congregation.
He also assisted in launching the statewide exhibit "Down Home,"
which featured aspects of Jewish life in North Carolina. Will was
especially involved in developing educational materials for the study
of Judaism in public schools, which was part of the exhibit and
full-length movie that has appeared on public television.
