Hi Edgar, Thanks for the very interesting link.
I found in my archive a book "Ausgewaaelte Historische Schriften" ,
Dokumentensammlung, Manfred Reifer, ed.Societatea istorico=evreiasca,
Cernauti 1938.
I found there documents from 1807 about the different "Kreise" with names
and in Lucacesti I found the name Abraham Langhaus, the great-grat father of
my father, as Ackerjuden..I will skan some pages, if you are interested,
Regards
Hedwig

Subject: [Cz-L]Czernowitz County aka Bukovina in the Year 1841 - Our Roots

Czernowitzers...

This year is 1841, Czernowitz is a county town in Galicia, even the name
Bukovina is not yet common for this region, referred to as Czernowitz
County. The city of Czernowitz, close to the Pruth river, 30 miles [?]
southeast of Lemberg, has 9,000 inhabitants, the seat of an orthodox bishop,
a county office, a mining court [authority], a philosophical academy/high
school, an orthodox secondary school, a girls' school, a midwives school, a
criminal court, a factory for chariots, trade and [river] navigation.
That's, what we learn from the excerpt of the Business Directory for Galicia
for the year 1841, which I released for at our Ehpes.com Blog:
