In English:
With a fine crisp croissant, we consider the Jews!
I think that Harry wrote this in German, because it sound much better
in German
than it does than in English. "knusperig" is somehow crisper than
"crisp".
A "Kipferl" is different from a croissant, less buttery, less
effeminate, more hearty.
And: "Yidlech" is the Yiddish word for Jews, plural. But it is the
plural of "Yidel", not of "yidd".
How do I explain the great value and importance of this "el" at the
end of a word?
By example: Think about someone calling: David, come here!
or the same person calling: Duvidel kum aher!
A few years ago, my grandson Jacob said: "I am sabta's Yankale and
saba's shmendrik"
