Paskudstwe is of the Paskudniak family of words but this is
the adjective .
In addition to all the already mentioned idioms it had a use
in mentioning the occult world of Czernowitz.
Magic and Ghosts were a part of everyday life.
More than once we saw on a doorsill chicken entrails and
    frog legs with parsley .
   Witchcraft.
This was "Paskutswe ". Turn away. Spit three times.
      Run and tell you neighbors.
Why not call them ghosts ?
Why start cheppen with ghosts ? Dont have trouble enough?
And when night fell and the gate was locked , who do
you think was parading up and down the street ?
The "Paskutstwe" ! Never mention them by name. Why take chances.
I have spoken too much anyway...
Hardy
