Dear Mimi:
Yes indeed, I was born in Czernowitz. And my father owned in der Postgasse
a furniture store turningout custom-made furniture, interior decor and
furnishings. My father Karl Ungar, was known as "Ungar von der Postgasse."
We lived at Franzengasse 22. My parents and I fled Czernowitz in June 1941.
Apparently, my family tree in Czernowitz goes back to 1776 where the widow
Israel Ungar was the first Jewish registered property owner. The registry
of that year names only three more Jews.
I joined the Czernowitz-List a few years ago through my cousin Lucca
Ginsburg.
With best wishes,
MARTIN
